Replacing Your Weather Station Hardware
Got a new weather station, or swapped the console or base station of the one you had? This article explains what happens to your old station in SmartMixin, what the "No longer reported" label means, and how to tidy up your list without losing any history.
What Happens When You Replace Your Station
Link to this sectionSmartMixin reads your stations from your weather-service account (Netatmo, Ecowitt, Ambient Weather, Davis, WeatherFlow Tempest or MyAcuRite). A new device usually gets a new identity at the service, so your new station shows up in SmartMixin as a separate station, and the old one disappears from your account.
SmartMixin doesn't delete the old station when that happens. It keeps it, with the history it has stored, so your past readings, charts and reports are still there. The old station just doesn't receive any new data.
If the device comes back to your account later (for example, you plug the old console back in), SmartMixin picks it up again automatically and it starts reporting as before.
Note: Netatmo stations you've added as favourites, and MyAcuRite stations you follow but don't own, aren't kept: when they leave your account, they're removed from SmartMixin.
How to Recognise an Old Station
Link to this sectionIn your station list, a station that's no longer in your weather-service account shows a label with the service's name and the date it disappeared, for example:
No longer reported by Davis Instruments since Sep 19, 2026
In shorter lists, such as the station management screen and station pickers, it simply says No longer reported.
You'll also notice that:
- Old stations move to the bottom of your station list, below the stations that still report
- SmartMixin no longer opens an old station by default when you have a station that still reports. You can still open it yourself at any time to look at its history
- Its last readings stay on screen, frozen at the moment it stopped reporting
Netatmo: for some Netatmo stations, SmartMixin still loads older charts from Netatmo when you open them. Once the device has left your Netatmo account, those charts can stay empty.
Alerts on an Old Station
Link to this sectionYour alerts on the old station are kept, but they can't go off any more, because the station no longer sends readings. In the mobile app, the alert list and the alert editor show This station no longer reports, so this alert can't trigger.
To keep being alerted, create the same alerts on your new station. See Setting Up Weather Alerts.
Hiding the Old Station
Link to this sectionIf you don't want the old station in your list any more, hide it. Hiding keeps the station and its history, and you can bring it back whenever you like.
- In the side menu, click Weather stations
- Click the gear icon at the top of the page to open Modify favorite stations
- Under No longer reported, click the eye icon next to the old station
The station moves to a Hidden stations section on the same screen, which reads You can unhide a station by tapping the eye icon next to it. Do that if you ever want it back in your list.
Don't Disconnect the Service to Clean Up
Link to this sectionWarning: Don't use Disconnect on the weather service to get rid of an old station. Disconnecting removes all of that service's stations from SmartMixin, the old one and the new one, and deletes their history. The only exception is when another SmartMixin user has connected the same weather-service account. Hide the old station instead, as described above.

My old station still looks normal
Link to this sectionSmartMixin marks the station once it notices that the device has left your weather-service account, which can take a little while after the swap. If the old device is still listed in your account at the service, SmartMixin treats it as an active station.
